Good morning friends, and HAPPY JUNETEENTH!!!
Today is one of my favorite days of the year, but unfortunately I work both jobs today and my city celebrated last weekend, so I can’t celebrate as much as I’d like to. However, this is the only time I’ll ever wear red, white and blue (the colors of the Juneteenth flag!), so that’s my way of celebrating :)
Anyway, I know we’re all reeling right now from the Iran/Israel/us hellscape, so this morning is about handling shock. Let’s grab our coffee and get into it.
Morning Affirmations:
I am allowed to pause. My breath is the first step back to myself.
The world may feel upside down, but I am allowed to move slowly and gently.
My body is still mine. I honor what it feels, even when it trembles.
I am not weak for being stunned. I am simply responding to something real.
Today, I give myself permission to not have all the answers.
Shock is not the end of me. It’s just a new beginning, a recalibration.
I trust that safety can return, even if I don’t feel it yet.
I am allowed to ask for comfort, quiet, and space.
I carry my resilience in my bones, even when my heart feel frozen.
I may feel shaken, but I’m still standing. I will keep standing.
Our self care goal today is to find something by a black artist and digest it. Whether it’s poetry, a short story, a painting, a speech, or a book, find something by a black artist and let yourself connect to it. Today is a day steeped in culture, ancestry, strength, and survival. We all could use those things right about now.
Alright friends, you know the drill. I see you, I hear you, I’m with you, and I love you. I’ll see everyone tonight for Tea with Ren 🍵💚
